Past
The son of two well-known and powerful Pokemon trainers, Calem is a naturally born and bred trainer with incredible potential. As a Scorpio, his already shy nature was only compounded after he won a difficult tournament as a young child. This event, coupled with the status of his parents, suddenly made him very popular and, as it turned out, he wasn't strong enough to handle the spotlight. Reporters and fans constantly hounded him until he couldn't take it anymore and locked himself inside of his bedroom. For much of his current life his only form of socialization came via talking to his friends through his window despite their protests and attempts to get him to come out, and the lack of socializing with anyone but them has made him a bit on the timid side when it comes to strangers.
Because he had decided that he couldn't EVER leave his house lest he get harassed further, he quickly spiraled into a deep depression, certain his life was over at that point. Eventually, it got so bad that he wouldn't even emerge to feed his Pokemon, leaving it up to his friends to do it for him.
Unfortunately, two rival legendary Pokemon by the names of Xerneas and Yveltal had come to Vaniville Town and the war between them destroyed his house, rendering him homeless and forcing him to leave his comfort zone. Although most people have probably forgotten about him by now, he adopted the nickname 'X' so that his friends could refer to him in a way that wouldn't grab potential unwanted attention from past fans.
Now he follows his friends around not unlike a lost puppy, going wherever it is they want to go for the sake of simplicity as he has no real goals for himself anymore. However, while they rest inside of Pokemon Centers, he refuses to do so, afraid that someone might recognize him, and pitches a tent outside of the Center instead.
